What is new in HQbird 2024 R2
HQbird 2024 R2 introduces support for many databases on the same server
HQbird 2024 R2 delivers robust support for managing hundreds of Firebird databases on a single server, ideal for Software-as-a-Service deployments, database hosting, and centralized replica storage.
Databases can be processed in groups
- Simplified database management through folder-based processing: put databases into the folder and they will be automatically included in the configured group task.
- Group processing supports queues, templates for inclusion, exclusion, and resulting files
Centralized Replica Storage
- Create a dedicated "replica server" for hundreds of your databases or customer databases
- Maintain ready-to-use "warm" backups with minimal synchronization delay (~30 seconds)
Below you can find more features explained:
Supported group operations for databases in the same folder (can be nested folders):
- Automatic registration of master and replica databases for replication, including re-initialization and transport layer
- Verified backups for multiple databases
- Incremental backups of level 0 (also called dump backups) for multiple databases
- Smart sweep (with disconnection of long-running writable transactions) for multiple databases
- Index recalculation for multiple databases
Monitoring improvements to support multi-database environment:
- Real-time visibility of active databases and connection counts
- Ability to trace at the entire server level (without binding to the database)
- Enhanced trace reports with:
- Additional statistical information
- Network address operation grouping
General improvements
- Refinement of performance test embedded in HQbird (Simple Insert Update Delete test)
- Improved stability of operation, startup time, error handling, improved logging and storage of additional information for retrospective problem detection
- Reduced number of duplicate messages for problem situations (critical system states, FB servers, FTP upload nodes, etc.)
- Changes to the reinitialization mechanisms: added the ability to create a queue for reinitialization
- Fixed operations with a large number of registered databases (master or replica), transition to a new version of the replication configuration (with support for the old version)
Web Interface Updates and Improvements:
- Ability to view firebird.log, firebird.conf, databases.conf from the web interface
- Improvement of the widget for displaying used space
- Changes to the color scheme, icons, widget placement, display of dates and time for "custom" localization format
- Improved input in the tasks dialogs (wrong paths, duplication of backup options, etc.)
- Ability to work (a number of bugs fixed) when specifying "non-standard" paths (including for running applications) containing spaces, incorrect slashes (for FTP paths) and punctuation (e.g., commas in database names)
- Ability to transfer replication segments with embedded TCP-sockets client and server
- Added the ability to archive server operation and replication logs
- The dedicated delta check task was moved to the online database state control task
- The number of explicitly registered databases has been limited to 14. It is recommended to have 2-3 databases explicitly registered; for others, better use group processing
